The Grounds for Sculpture is a beautiful park, kept very clean, and is filled with beautiful gardens and a wide variety of plants in addition to all of the various sculptures.
They even had one area which was titled "The Forest of the Subconscious," which included a narrow path through low-hanging branches of different trees and surrounded by even more beautiful plants. After finding my way from Route 1 (see last post) to the entrance of the Grounds for Sculpture, as soon as I had paid my entry fee, I was stopped on the road by crossing peacocks (as seen from my car, top left picture below). They wander throughout the 42 acre public sculpture park, and are not really very shy at all when it comes to approaching photographers such as myself.
To give a little more background on the sculpture park, it was conceived by the philanthropist and sculptor J. Seward
One might think that with my proximity to New York (15 miles east of here) and all of the art that the city has to offer, that my first arts adventure would take place in one of the five boroughs. Well, that seemed too predictable, and I have a book from the library that was providing me with other ideas.
