Watching people watch people on The High Line

It would seem that somebody gave the instructions to turn to the right and observe the people in that direction. My observation of people on The High Line near the Whitney Museum in New York City finds a funny left-to-right sequence: the single guy at far left is intently watching the couple to his right, while the woman to the right of the couple is watching the single lady on her right taking a high-angled selfie. Unfortunately, my camera view isn’t wide enough to see if this pattern continues to the right of this group.
